Found 2 females of this fly on a dead tree stump- both were tasting their way round active digger wasp holes and then ovipositing either in or near the holes. About 10mm body length. Taken today South coast UK

Any ideas on ID ?

Brian V.

Carry on like this and the Wild Guesses Club are going to kick me out, and me the Founding Member too.

Normal Service WILL resume as soon as this technical difficulty is sorted Wink

Thanks for the ID Smile
Do these have any relationship with digger wasps or was that a coincidence ?
