In fact not a Scatopse, but the vicinous genus Reichertella, and almost certainly the species Reichertella geniculata. The wing veination is very similar to that of Scatopse notata, (except slight differences), but the male genitalia (visible on some specimens at the bottom of the picture) are directed downwards and pointed. Adults of this species and others of the genus may sometimes be seen gathering in large numbers on tree trunk or plants, as on this nice picture. Jean-Paul |
