My third Beris of the day. This time a male. I didn't see the abdomen colour but the antenna look like either clavipes or vallata; I thought it would be the same as my previous (which I think was clavipes) but the extensively black hind tibia (shown on 2nd photo) indicates vallata. I photographed another Beris in my garden a couple of days ago - see http://www.dipter...ost_100201 - which I took to be either chalybata or morrisii. Unless I'm completely wrong that's 4 spp. within about 200m. Is this likely? thanks Tim tim worfolk attached the following image: ![]() [114.79Kb] |
