This image was taken last weekend on the Gulf of Suez. I was attracted by the odd behaviour of these diptera but only realised they were in the clutches of a spider when I saw the photo on computer. I don't know the spider either so will do a double post.

They look like unfortunate Anthomyidae to me ![]() Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
