The Netherlands, De Wieden. 8 may 2009.

Male Dolichopus i think. 5,5 mm long. This species has a conspicuous basel tars element in mid leg.
Perhaps this leads to an id.?

Hi Klaas
I had one with the same tarsi on 22/04/09..turned out to be D plumipes. Not sure if this is the same as that one looked very metallic...but that might have been my pop-up flash on the camera.
Regards Roger

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
