Hi Forum,

Would this little one (3 mm.) be a Coenosia, or are there any other possibilities? Picture taken 29 april 2009 on the Netherlands Wadden Sea island of Griend.

Thanks,

I'm certainly no expert, but it looks like a Coenosia tigrina that I photographed recently – there are plenty of them about in my garden in the UK at the moment.

But I should wait for an expert to come along! Smile

Coenosia is correct, but this is not C. tigrina. I can't say which species.
Stephane.

Hi Stephane,

Thank you for affirming Coenosia. Do you know whether further identification is at all possible from this photo? I was not able te collect the fly.
