Hi, can someone help me with this Anthomyiid? Rather small, 3 mm long or so, by lake.

It is refreshing to see the genitalia pullled out (even though they are a bit of a squashy mess!). Even so I think I can recognise Delia frontella Zetterstedt male. The long tapering aedeagus, the pointed surstyli and the very long setae on the cercal plate are typical of this species. The long and numerous setae below the hind femur also point to this. If you have the specimen look at the notopleuron which should have a few fine hairs as well as the two strong setae. They are not visble in the photo.

Now there's something you don't hear every day. Haven't heard that said since 1979, following a 20 minute drum solo at the end of a 3 hour gig in Pisa, it was a very warm night. Either that or it was an Actress said to the Bishop joke. Bit of blur the 1970's.
