ID request small beetle

Hello everybody,

I photographed this very small beetle (only 2-3 mm large) at Gresse-en-Vercors, France on 30-5-2008. It was at the edge of a quite dark mixed beech-pine wood, rather moist. Could anyone help in identifying this? Thanks!
