Hi! These Ephydrids were found by lake Balaton, Hungary. Can anyone help with an ID? Size approx 5 mm.

I think it is Notiphila brunipes (Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830). Face is to be silvery-white (here is a little yellowish), contrasting to the coloration of frons. Antennae black or with apical sement yellowish internally in this species. If it is possible it is better to check eye-to-cheek index, lateral view. Height of eye to height of cheek must be about3:1. All tibiae black. |
