With an extreme large oculair triangel this little fly is strongly resembling Oscinella species-[Cloropidae] as presented on this website. The species seem to be very common on rather wet grasland, where i found it on the top of grasses. 14-aug-2008, De Wieden-Netherlands. size 2,5 mm. Is it possible to tell witch species it is? just 7 species in Holland! Klaas attached the following image: ![]() [161.08Kb] |

Oscinella sp are so similar that only genitalial investigation of males gives you a definite answer. Most females are indeterminable. The host plant may also give you a clue.
