hi flyforum,

Yesterday I found several Doli sp. on Acer leaves.
The mating of these flies was quit funny to see;
While the female was sitting on the leaf, the Doli-man puts its long legs down in the flight and took positions in the air (like a heli) to land on the back of the female. The man stood still in the air several times before landing.

Next to this Doli sp. (see picture) I saw some Doli's with huge feathered antenne.

Is this Doli(see pict below) Argyra sp. as well?

Thankx in advance
Robert

I'd say Rhaphium.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
