very nice Miltogramminae (among my favourite in Sarcophagidae). It is a a Craticulina. Not the tabaniformis as the antennae are not black. Maybe around a specimen like mine.  |

Most likely Craticulina. From these pictures I can not exclude tabaniformis, as the light color of the antennae is possibly artificial. In Israel, the most likely species would be C. diffusa, but fauna is badly known. Liekele |

My translation: C diffusa females differntiated from C tabaniformis by their smaller size (3-4mm); by the more grey than whitish coloration; by the abdomen having entire black stripes resulting in the fusion of the median triangular spots with the lateral stripes on segments 2&3. The stripe on segment 4 on the anterior border is bigger and covers at least the posterior half of the tergite; by the white head, with dull brown antennae, yellow at the base, with a very long black bristle (?arista) (3/4 of the length of the 3rd antennal segment). Brownish legs more or less ...?... at the base of the tibiae. Black feet. I assume this points towards C diffusa, although the stripes are not black. Susan |
