Eristalinus arvorum and an unknown hoverfly

I took the photo of this Eristalinus arvorum in Jan 2007, near an abandoned paddy field in Hong Kong:

In mid Aug 2008 I found another hoverfly near an lowland stream, also in Hong Kong:

The latter looks like E. arvorum apart from the eye pattern and bands on dorsal side of abdomen.

Will there be any case that different individuals of the same species have such distinctly different eye pattern?

Probably not, so the two will be different species. In your part of the world there are a lot of Eristalinus species, not all of them are very well known!
