Am I correct with Bombylius venosus for this poor old specimen? From 20 May 2008, Indre et Loire, central France.

I'd put as Bombylius sp. I don't see the halteres, neither the dark bristles behind the eyes, which could help to confirm venosus.

I don't have a photo that shows the halteres unfortunately. I also foolishly did not collect the specimen.Sad
