Hello,

I found this fly, about 4 mm in size, on Fagus sylvatica. Using Mikes Insect Keys - Family Platypezidae (https://sites.goo...atypezidae) I got to subfamily Platypezinaea, Platypeza sp.
- cross vein dm-m close to the wing margin
- subcosta short. It ends at the same level as the cross vein r-m or short before it.
- first segment of the hind tarsus not long

Can someone confirm my assumption or help narrow it further down? Or am I wrong?

Northern Germany, Hildesheim, on Fagus sylvatica, ~4 mm, 04.11.2024, 76 m

Hi,

I think it is Platypeza consobrina. Check Reemer & de Jong (2016): De Nederlaandse breedvoetvliegen.

Best,
Jonne
