Is this Meligramma guttatum

I found this hoverfly sunning on my garden fence last weekend (10th FeCool. I am sure it is Meligramma but not so sure which species. I think guttatum but would appreciate confirmation or otherwise.

Is it normally found in early Feb?

This is a Meliscaeva auricollis male.

Many thanks. Having looked it up in Stubbs I can see now that the oblique marks on tergite 2 are typical. My specimen looks to be an example of the spring brood var. maculicornis.
