Hello, Here is another syrphid on ivy flower visit. It is no Melanostoma because of the yellow scutellum and the missing facial knob (at least I could not see it). Can it be a Meliscaeva, a genus still insufficiently known to me? Photographed in Berlin on 1st October. Thanks for information, Sundew Sundew attached the following image:  [179.56Kb] |

It is Meliscaeva (=Episyrphus) auricollis.
