Hello,

I photographed this fly on yarrow today. It was much smaller than for example Cylindromyia bicolor. You can also estimate the size by looking at the flower heads of the yarrow. Is this possibly Cylindromyia pusilla?

Hi Theo,

I only have one picture left and I'm going to upload the first one again, this time a little bigger. Click on the image to enlarge.

Greetings, Volker

That’s what I thought: Clairvillia.
Should be C. biguttata (but in these days, you never know!)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
