Locality: Bergen, Norway 22th July On the side of a road, zone with gardens I've found a work about Norwegian horseflies and tried to identify myself http://www.entomologi.no/journals/nje/2014-2/pdf/nje-vol61-no2-219-264-falck.pdf I interpret that the first antennal segment is short, black, polished and with no constriction But I'm lost at the point 4 of the key. The dichotomy leads to two paths that are not exclusive of each other: "4. Antennal segment 1 black, all femora blackish-grey. Abdomen with distinct, but rather small grey sublateral spots on tergite 3 to 7, sometimes small spots also on tergite 2 .................................................. H. subcylindrica Pandellé, 1883 - Frons always higher than broad, antennal segment 1 not constricted, antennae polished ............................................... 5" So both paths of the key can be applied to the specimen Any help? Thanks!   |

If your quote it correct, it is a strange key. Anyhow, green colouration clearly indicates pluvialis. Theo |

Thanks! If it's pluvialis I misinterpreted one step of the key, as the first antennomere seemed to be not constricted to me, but pluvialis have it :-) |
