Hello! This was found ny Dávid Horváth, in Hungary 2021. 06. 29. I think, that this is a Philipomyia graeca. Can you confirm me? Or is this an other species? What is the difference between genus Philipomyia and Hybomitra?

Definitely Philipomyia.
In Hungary, Ph. aprica is by far the most common one,

Without a lateral, I can’t be sure.

Please always make dorsal, lateral and frontsl shots in Tabanidae !
Make my life so much easier .

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
