I don't even recognize the family of this 4 mm fly tonight at our housewall (northwest Germany).

I am not sure Juergen, but did you check Campichoetidae?

thank you! I had a superficial look at that family, but in my photo collection I only found a more light grey Campichoeta and one with marginally darkened wings, so I did not take them into account. But you may be right, the habitus is very similar.
