despite the diffuse photo, could ID still be possible? I'd expect the wing pattern to be quite distinctive, but would not know whether to look within Tipulids or Limoniids.

Limoniidae. Maybe Eloeophila?

this is an observation of the same individuum - now I am very much in favor of Eloeophila maculata (vs. E. submarmorata)
