My best guess is female Eupeodes latifasciatus (compare https://www.flick...787790503/).

My first thought was Didea, but wing venation doesn't fit - Didea has a distinct loop in R4+5. According to Speight (https://pollinato...counts.pdf), the flight period is May/September with peaks in June and August (plus April and October in southern Europe). So it might be a late one...

And Didea's uppermost yellow spot is oblique.
I think that Eupeodes is right, but which one

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
