Can this be ID'd to species??
someone suggest Ectecephala albistylum..Is this correct? If not this...Do any of you have knowledge of true ID??
Thank you all very much for any help.

Observed in Southeastern USA on Jeruselam Artichoke leaf - (Helianthus tuberosus)...in open area of yard.
I only get this one image before it flew away...

It's a very busy time of year for most of the dipterists here, so you may need to be prepared to wait for an answer. Personally, I'd say this is likely to be Ectecephala, but I don't know the species, and can't say for sure which one this is.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
