I recently got this beautiful bombyliidae fly in front of my camera in Rhodes. I have a single picture of that taken quite remotely. Can a closer determination be made? 2th of June, 2021.

Consider uploading this observation to inaturalist.org to better understand the distribution of this mediterranean species.

Dear Gábor!

Thank You! I was looking elsewhere.
I saw the inaturalist.org observations.
It is likely that we have just been on the island so far outside the main occurence period. Therefore, we did not encounter this species.

Beautiful photos (in inaturalist.org). The male-female dimorphism is strong.

Thank you Gábor!
I'm rewriting the banner.
I don’t see any photos of the species in the gallery. I'm sorry I couldn't "carve" a better picture.
Also, only 8 specimens were recorded on the inaturalist site.
According to them, it is not a common species. Isn't it?

It is difficult to know. Few people especially in the South East are interesed in diptera.
