Continuing from the previous thread (http://www.dipter...d_id=57761), I collected several of these specimens in the highlands of Malaysia. I suspected it was an Anthomyia, but the specimen doesn't have hair under the scutellum, the pattern doesn't match any known oriental Anthomyia and lacks the processes that are found on the 5th sternite. I'm guessing it's some sort of Muscid, possibly a Gymnodia? Has anybody encountered these flies before?

A female fly was collected from the same locality and time. (http://www.dipter...d_id=57785) I suspect both of them are the same species.

This one looks like Muscidae to me, unlike "pt 2" which looks like Anthomyia.

Thanks a lot for the help.

I must have made a premature assumption that both were the same species because I've found both species co-occuring in more than one location.

I just closely inspected it and the characters match Heliographa.
