having witnessed a near full eclipse, I would certainly prefer the field full of all Syrphids! That's the sort of thing I dream of

Got to agree with Jorge: few (if any) things are cooler than a total solar eclipse. If you have a change, GO!

try to tell such thing to eclipse chasers. I'm sure you never saw a real TSE. It's better than seeing a (i) field with almost all genus of syrphids.

I remember we had a total eclipse when I, being a little girl, had to go to a dentist for a difficult oral surgery. Negative connotation!
