Hello everyone,

is Tabanus sudeticus correct? The fly measures more than 2 cm in length.

Location: Germany, Rhineland-Palatinum, 53572 Unkel, river Rhine valley, Stux hill, dry and warm habitat (grapeyards), 09th June 2020. It was attracted by light.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Hi Michael, you might have overlooked that Theo has identified it as autumnalis: e.g. antenna black, the triangles on the abdomen relatively large, reaching mostly the base of the tergites...

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
