Hello,

I photographed this fly in Bazzano (AQ), Italy, on August 3rd 2019. I think it is an Asilidae, but is it possible to tell the genus or species from these photos?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele

Neomochtherus or related genus, I think. Resembles N. pallipes.

Greetings,
Henrik

It looks small, it could be a Cerdistus sp (related to and similar to Neomochtherus)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
