Hello!

Is this a female of Scatophaga lutaria? It was rather large, 10-12 mm. Found this afternoon at forest edge, Ostwestfalen/Germany, at 4 ?C between the rain showers...

Juergen

I had a look at this and tried to run it through a key, but it seems to have the wrong number of bristles on the tibia pointing in the wrong directions, and I couldn't work out what species from these images. Someone more experienced may be able to offer an opinion!Sad

Hello, Susan and Kahis!

If it's not possible, then it's not possible... Wink. Thanks nevertheless.

I only had compared with the pictures in the gallery, and because I never had a Scatophaga suilla with such grey thorax colouration (possibly only has lost hairs), I tended to S. lutaria...
Best regards,
Jürgen
