Hi, I think it's Discomyza incurva (Ephydridae).

Greetings, Eric

Thank you very much Eric,
Is it possible to tell if it is a female or a male?
I read that it is a parasite of Helix pomotia.

Hi Liliane, Helix pomatia (and other Helicidae) is correct and I'm quite sure, that it's a female.

Eric

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
