Hi,
This specimen of Suillia is large: >11 mm. Most species of this genus are smaller around 6-8 mm. Since femurs are not enlarged S. gigantea can be excluded. I have seen that Suillia notata is a large species ; of course my pictures show a poor definition . Is it possible to identify this species ?
This suillia was observed on october 16th in Burgondy (North of Yonne department). Many thanks for your help. Jean-Michel Garel.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
