Hi, found this couple 20200924 on a sallow with Tuberolachnus salignus and hundreds of Vespula germanica/vulgaris.
I'm not sure if it's signatus or brevirostris and appreciate to read your ideas.
Thanks in advance, Eric

Hi Eric,

These are very nice photo's of a copula Leopoldius signatus!
The Theca is very small and does barely protrude from the abdomen. With brevirostris the Theca is much larger and does protrude, see:

Kind regards,
Ectemnius

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
