hello fly-reader,

I found a picture of Merodon equestris (If I'm right?) from some time ago (27-5-2002).
It visited my room(Amsterdam) and I took a picture and video of it:

Is this Merodon(?) a female fly? Eyes are seperated quite a distance..
Or isn't it a characteristic feature of this fly?

p.s. This fly is not loved by flower ball (narcissus) farmers in Holland

It's a female, forma 'bulborum' (sensu Van der Goot, 1980: Zweefvliegen van Noord-West Europa).
