Hello,
I think it's a Eupeodes species, corollae or…
Thanks for your help,
Maik

Hello Mike,

the comma spots do not reach the tergite margins, so not corollae. Most likely Eupeodes luniger female.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hello Jürgen,

thank you very much for the quick help and the information. Then I will now name the photos as Eupeodes cf. luniger.
Best regards,
Maik

To exclude E. lapponicus the wing venation is important (in this species vein R4+5 is strongly bent). It is not clearly seen here. Another quite similar species is Scaeva selenitica, but it has a swollen frons, dark antennae and a dark ring on the hind tibiae, so it is out. Eupeodes spec. is OK.
It always pays to compare the pictures and explanation in Steven Falk's Syrphidae collection (https://www.flick...600153789/).
Regards, Sundew

That's what I understood from your post, dear Jürgen! I just expanded the explanation.

For me it is nice and sufficient to know that it is Eupeodes spec. Many thanks. Best regards, Maik
