Hi,

A friend of mine photographed this tephritid but I'm not recognizing it. What can be said about it? The wide frons and wing pattern reminded me of Oxyna, but the specimen is very dark.

It is an Oxyna, but no necessary details are visible to tell which one. Possibly nebulosa or obesa.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol
