Northern Germany, Schleswig-Holstein, Pinneberg-Waldenau near Hamburg, at the edge of the mixed forest Klövensteen, at a metallic railing under big oaks and pine trees, nearby also beeches; Outsidephotos: kuv, 20th of April 2020. I think it could be Bibio leucopterus. Is my idea of ID ok? Please help to get the ID.

It is pretty early for leucopterus. Difficult to see, but left leg suggests B. marci.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
