Dear all,

I post a photo taken in the french Alps (Réallon) of an Hemipenthes identified as Hemipenthes villeneuvei in Inaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/41115857) and then confirmed by reading the original description :
François F., 1970. Bombyliidae (Diptera) méconnus V. Un Hemipenthes orophile nouveau : H. villeneuvei. Annales de la Société Royale Entomologique belge, 106 (203-205).

I did not find any data in the french database INPN, nor in the GBIF and no photos of this species in internet.

Do any of you know of any observations or publications that mention this species since the original description ?

This species seems very close to the spanish (endemic ?) Hemipenthes vockerothi, also described by Frans François, in 1969 (for which we find photos on the net).

Sincerely,

Bastien

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
