Hello,

a 3.5-4 mm fly from our housewall yesterday (northwest Germany). I don't even know the family. It superficiously resembles Lonchoptera, but without the pointed wings. It also reminds me of some Anthomyzidae, but with the spiny legs of a small Scatophagidae. I'm confused... awkward

Thanks, Roger! Very interesting. If a fly doesn't have a metallic shine, I forget that family awkward. I also did not find a Dolichopodid so early in the year.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
