Is this specimen a fly of the family Sphaerocoridae?

Just for some additional information, I reared several of these flies (amongst other flies and beetles) from deadwood beech and oak branches. So could these flies be of the Genus Medetera (Dolichopodidae), whose larvae are apparently bark beetle predators? SandroM attached the following image: ![]() [156.69Kb] |

Could be Medetera. The apical arista, large mouth, and relative orientation of R2+3, R4+5, and M all match that genus. But crossvein m-cu is far from wing margin. |
