Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is a Diptera, found at the edge of a small pond near frog spawn. Germany, lower Bavaria, 9th April 2019. I've seen lots of similar looking larva floating at the surface in August.
Thank you!

The larva of the horsefly Heptatoma pellucens. Very characteristic dorsal hairpatches giving it a brownish appearance

By the way, definitely aquatic and it seems to prefer organically enriched stagnant water bodies
