Hi everybody,

could this be Brachyopa panzeri? I know, Brachyopa is not so easy to ID... is it possible to narrow the result (Brachyopa)

Seen in Germany, Baden-Württemberg, boarder to Swizerland, Waldshut, sitting on a walnut tree stump - licking the liquid of the tree, 05 April 2011

Thanks a lot,
Chris

Hello Chris,

I think that your only options are Brachyopa dorsata and panzeri. I've read that panzeri lacks bristles on the scutellum. I don't know if this is an accurate id feature or not. If so, then it should be Brachyopa panzeri.

Best wishes,
John

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
