Berlin - June, 2017

Hello everyone,

I recently discovered photos of a fly from my balcony wall back in 2017. Today i have tried to place it into a family and a genus. I think that it is a Chloropid and the two grooves on the mesonotum lead me to Tricimba genus. I think it is Tricimbus and not from other genera with grooved mesonotum because of the color (mesonotum, abdomen, antennae) and the scutellum. The time of year seems right for the common T. cincta.

I am aware that male genitalia is required for positive id of a Tricimba sp. I now also request a gender because i have not examined this fly and i cannot find very many valid photos of T. cincta for comparison.

Essentially, is Tricimba correct? and is this a male (tip of abdomen seems blunt)?
the fly is 2.2mm. I cannot see find details such as three small marginal setae of the scutellum but i think that a genus can be confirmed.

Best wishes,
John

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
