this is a strange one. bluish abdomen throws me off. However, i don't think it is Polietes. Polietes have a rounder abdomen. I always think of Polietes as a Calliphora collided with a Muscina. Plus, i think that Polietes generally have stronger bristles on the side of the thorax.

I see a strong pd on t3 but i don't know of any dark Phaonia with a bluish dusting. Perhaps it is Hydrotaea? I also don't know of any bluish Thricops.

I say wait for an opinion from Nikita.

The slightly convergent veins near the wing-tip suggest Hydrotae to me, eg: https://diptera.i...to_id=4086

They are not convergent enough for Muscina levida: https://diptera.i...to_id=5738

Hello Tristram, i also think Hydrotaea but i'm not sure. I don't have much experience with them. I only have H. cyrtoneurina and i forget what it looks like. LOL. I have to revisit this genus to learn more about them. I don't find them very often for some reason.

Anyway, that is two votes for Hydrotaea. Mine a question and Tristram's a positive.

Good place to start, Jürgen. Hydrotaea sp.

Thank you for posting, Tristram Smile

Thanks a lot for your comments, John and Tristram!

P.S.: I think the bluish colour may be a photographic artifact.
Best regards,
Jürgen

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
