Is this Machimus? If so, which species? Photographed yesterday, central lowland France (Loire Valley) on a colleague's hat along a forest track. Any clues about the prey would be appreciated too :-) I have both specimens if more detail is needed.

You can all stop worrying about what species this is. It keys out to Tolmerus atricapillus, and the prey is Herina nigrina. Two pronged black bristled apendage on underside of abdomen visible in this photo if you know what you are looking for.
