Hi,
One of the many that bit me during my holidays in the lake of Orta region in Italy last week. Can the image provided lead to an ID. I kept this specimen if additional features need to be looked at.
Best regards,
Widus

Thanks Tony,
Which document would you recommend for the identification of Culicidae?

For Italian Culicdiae, you could try Severini, Francesco & Toma, Luciano & Di Luca, Marco & Romi, Roberto. (2009). Le zanzare italiane: Generalità e identificazione degli adulti (Diptera, Culicidae). Fragmenta Entomologica. 41. 213 - 372. (available at http://www.fragme...view/92/84 )
For European keys and descriptions. I use Becker, N., Petric, D., Zgomba, M., Boase, C., Madon, M.B., Dahl, C., Kaiser, A. 2010. Mosquitoes and Their Control. Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg. I believe there is a new edition published this year, so you may be able to get a used copy of this 2010 edition cheaply.

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
