Hi, is this Sylvicola cinctus? Found indoors in April.

All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated.

My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated.

For male: photo of the tip of the abdomen to see external genitalia.
For female: dissect subgenital plate.
From this picture, the ID is mission impossible.

Exactly top view to see the genitalia. It is a male, so not problem to ID after your posting the new photo.

The abdomen was twisted, that confused me Smile Now it should be correct:

Perfect now, the male of the most common species, Sylvicola cinctus.

Yes, expected, but it is better to try to confirm than just "suppose".

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
