There was something seriously wrong with this fly - it made no effort to fly away, in fact it hardly moved at all. Three things:

1. The forehead does not seem to have fused properly?
2. There appears to be a brownish cocoon (?) at the front of the thorax ventrally. I have seen similar parasites on cicadas - is this a parasite?
3. Is it possible to ID her? Near Apeldoorn on 20/04/2019.

I have more photos from different angles and details if necessary.

It is a very freshly emerged Phorocera female. You can see the distinctive genitalia.

Are there any other features you would like to see?

It is so teneral that I will try no further... but both Phorocera (obscura and assimilis) are very common around Apeldoorn.

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
