I saw this fly half September in Amstelveen, the Netherlands. I'm quite mystified about it. It could be a Tachinid, but is it? Regrettably, I have no dorsal shot, so no clue about wing venation. But perhaps someone recognizes it by this lateral shot... Moderately sized, say some 7 mm. On bare patch in grass land.

During summer we had lots of them in our garden. They use to sit on leaves or grass blades, and they catch other flies and devour them (see the three lower pictures in my thread http://www.dipter...post_33910.) Regards, Sundew |
