I would say this is a Sphaerophoria scripta if it weren't for the position of the wings. Unfortunately the wing venation can't be seen clearly.

Thanks for your attention,

Very difficult to say. I'm guessing it's scripta, but I'm not sure at all. Sphaerophoria are almost impossible to ID in the field. Based on just this one photo I can't be sure.Sad
Best regards,

Thanks for your help. Does that mean that the wing position is not very relevant ?

I am aware that spme Sph. species are very difficult to ID. But is there any species which is similar to scripta?

Male S.scripta is very distinctive because of the length of i'ts abdomen (much longer than wings) but female S.scripta is not that easy. Female S.rueppelli is smaller but (except for some minor details) fairly similar.

But reviewing the picture I'm positive it's S.scripta. (broader abdomen, yellow line along the side)..Pfft
Best regards,

Iolaire
